When skating on ice, one is in principle skating on water. The pressure which is exerted on the blade changes the ice on the surface into water. By the arising film of water, gliding on ice is possible. Synthetic ice (seno-ice®) has succeeded in achieving this glide process almost l on the basis of plasic.
